Our CSR, in youth rugby.

As a proud participant in the local rugby scene, HMR Konsultan is committed to advancing youths rugby in the island, especially women's rugby. Labuan is a venue for a regional rugby carnival where over 40 teams from the neighbouring states battle out in a 2 day 7s and 10s a side competitions. More than half of the participating teams comprise of female and male youths under 21s. Our Managing Director who is very instrumental in the local youths rugby development, manages the competitions, coaches the Labuan girls team and even refereeing the  games throughout our involvement in the rugby scene for the past 20 years.

HMR Konsultan sent Malaysian U20 Women’s Rugby Team to Kathmandu, Nepal in 2023

HMR Konsultan have collaborated with Labuan Rugby Association and Malaysia Rugby Union, and co-sponsored the U20 Women’s rugby team to the regional Asia Rugby Sevens tournament held on 19-20 August 2023 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

 

The sevens tournament, hosted by the Nepal Rugby Association showcased 11 teams for the U20 Men’s and 4 U20 Women’s teams which Malaysia sent teams to compete in both categories.

Our MD, Sukor Ashak volunteered and was one of the women’s team coaching members. He was instrumental in the preparation of the young players, with 2 weeks intensive centralised training held in Labuan before departing for Kathmandu.

Team is departing from KLIA to Kathmandu, Nepal

Our women’s junior secured the 3rd placing in the competition after losing to a more experienced Hong Kong, China team in their last game on Sunday. The spirits were high, and the result was commendable. We’re proud of the team and we will continue promoting the women’s junior rugby in Labuan for years to come!
