Before a Labuan entity can file its tax return, submit an e-Invoice or appoint a tax agent, someone must be registered with the Inland Revenue Board as the company's authorised representative. For most Labuan companies that person is a director, and the registration is done by the director themselves through the MyTax Portal.
The process is straightforward, but it catches people out because the role is applied for against the company's Tax Identification Number (TIN) rather than the director's own tax file. Below is the step-by-step process.
Step 1: Access the MyTax Portal
Go to https://mytax.hasil.gov.my/
Step 2: Log in
Use your personal MyTax credentials to sign in. This is your individual login, not a company login.
Step 3: Go to the Profile section
Click the Profile button in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
Step 4: Submit the Role Application
Navigate to the Role Application tab, then complete the form as follows:
Type of Application: select New Application.
Type of Role: select Director of the Company / Organisation Administrator.
Enter your Labuan entity's TIN, then check that the company details displayed on screen are correct.
Upload the supporting documents: the Certificate of Incorporation and Form 25.
Tick the declaration box, then click Submit.
Step 5: Digital signature
When prompted, enter your passport or NRIC number together with your MyTax password to sign the application.
Step 6: Confirmation
You should see a success message confirming that the new application is being processed. Approval normally takes one to two working days. Click OK to view the status of your application.
Need help with this?
If the company details shown against the TIN are wrong, or the application is rejected, it usually points to something outstanding on the entity's records with Labuan FSA or the Inland Revenue Board. Get in touch and we can check the position for you.
